List of Legal Requirements

For symbolic ceremonies the following list is not applicable, this list is only for legal marriage.

In order to get legally married in Puerto Morelos, there are a few requirements you need to meet:

Bride, Groom & Witnesses must arrive to Cancun 3 working days prior to the wedding day (Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays do not count)

The wedding coordinator must receive the following documents in order to start the corresponding application for a Wedding in the Civil Registry Office.

Requirements:
Tourist card (you will get them at your arrival to the Cancun airport).
If bride or groom is divorced they should bring the original Birth Certificates with the stamp (Le Apostille) of the Registry of your Country. This document should be translated into Spanish and the cost is $50.00 USD +10% tax per each birth certificate, translation must be done here in Mexico, otherwise will not be valid.
If Bride is divorced we will need copy of the Final Divorce Decree with the stamp (Le Apostille) of the Registry of your Country. This document should be translated into Spanish and the cost is $50.00 USD+ 10% tax per page, translation must be done here in Mexico, otherwise will not be valid.
Valid Passports (This is essential, otherwise the wedding cannot be performed).
The blood tests are taken in México; they are not valid if it is taken elsewhere. To be considered valid the test should not be taken more than 14 days prior to the ceremony. The blood will be tested for HIV, RPR (sexually transmitted diseases) and blood type. The results will be ready in 24 hours together with a certificate of the blood test and the charge will be $250 USD+ 10% tax per couple to be paid directly to the doctor in cash the day when test is taken
Another fee that you should consider the Judge’s transportation , they usually perform the civil ceremony in their office however is flexible to come to the resort if transportation is provided, the round trip from the city is $50 USD , this should be paid directly to the judge the wedding date or you can arrange this in advance through the wedding coordinator
The names, addresses, nationalities, ages, occupation, relationship, copy of a tourist card and a valid identification of the 4 witnesses. The Wedding Coordinator will send you the legal form.
The Marriage Certificate is only valid in Mexico.

Ceremony Locations

Beach Ceremonies or Seaside Garden

Beach ceremony or Seaside Garden is an option for weddings at the property; the time is subject to availability. All the packages include the basic set up with covered chairs for the guests and table for the judge or minister.

The backup in case of rain would be at one of the Ballrooms for up to 20 people and the rain plan is decided 3 hours before ceremony depending of the weather.

It is totally optional for the wedding couple this location or the beach.

Additional Information for Ceremony
• Religious ceremony is not legally valid, this is just symbolic ceremony.
• For religious or non denominational wedding it is not necessary complete the legal requirements (blood test, translations, witnesses, etc…..)
• If you would like to bring your own minister, it is fine there is not problem for non legal ceremonies.
When it is a legal ceremony the judge must perform ceremony
• The ceremony is the most important event, for that reason you feel free to add special moments along ceremony, it means that if you would like to have a reading poem, singer, pray or anything just let the coordinator know.
• You also have the choice to bring your own music, if there is any specific song that you would like to play or any of your guests will play something for you, it is possible. The hotel could rent you a CD player only for ceremony and CD with wedding music in case you do not have any.
• The hotel performs maximum 2 weddings per day and the times are subject to availability, all weddings should be in different time and in separated locations.



RECEPTION LOCATIONS

Beach Reception
The beach receptions are available at NH Riviera Cancun; the set up is with round tables for maximum 10 people, in case of rain the backup would be one of the Ballrooms depends the size of the group. When it is a group for more than 50 people the service on the beach will be buffet style.

Restaurant Receptions
NH Riviera Cancun has 5 restaurants where the dinner could take place and if you want a group wedding dinner there, it is possible to reserve an area in one of the restaurants; for 10 people maximum there is not extra fee involved, but for bigger groups you should pay an additional fee for set up and service $20.00 USD per person and a pre selected menu should be established.
It is very important to let you know that our specialties restaurants have their own themed ambience for that reason and for respect to the other guests dinning there, dancing and music are not allowed.

Ballroom
NH Riviera Cancun features a state-of-the-art brand new Ballroom for special events; it is absolutely an elegant and comfortable option for the wedding groups. The room will be assigned according with the number of guests attending to the banquet.

Dinner Policies
Wedding Dinner

The hotel has different venues available to celebrate the wedding dinner; it may be outdoor or indoor with air conditioned depending on the preference of the wedding couple; however you should be informed about the hotel policies to use these facilities.
It is important you know that special wedding menus should be served only for private events, all the couples getting the NH Romance and NH Luxury wedding package have this option available because their package includes dinner.

When your wedding dinner is taking place in any of our restaurants it is necessary select a set menu from the carte.

These policies are applicable for any type of special dinners like rehearsal, bachelorette party, anniversaries, birthdays, etc...

Group Dinner Reservation at the restaurants

• For any of the restaurants more than 10 people will be considered as a group.
• If any guest is interested in organizing a dinner in one of the restaurants for a group (over 10 people), a set up and service fee will apply, the price for this special service will be $20.00 USD per person. It will be necessary to select a set menu for all guests attending the dinner; the menu will be selected by the clients from the regular menu of the restaurant. This $20.00 USD charge does not guarantee that the restaurant will be closed exclusively for the group.
Any dinner at the restaurants is allowed for maximum 35 guests and it should be 2 hours long. (ex.6:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
• The only restaurant where the group can have a dinner all together without extra cost would be Festival restaurant with buffet style (it is not private buffet it would be of the regular buffet line).
• All the outdoor events are allowed until 10:30 pm.

Our Restaurants have exceptional terraces, you may be able to rent this area to make your event more intimate and private for $500 USD, this fee is only for the location and it doesn’t include food and service charge. (Maximum 35 people)

• Music and Dancing are only allowed for private events (Beach or Pool Terrace) or at the Ballroom, not at the restaurants
